The effect of rhizobium and PSB along with inorganic fertilizers on growth and yield attributes of green gram (Vigna radiata)

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at the agriculture research farm, faculty of agriculture, Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramodaya Vishwavidyalaya, Chitrakoot Satna (M.P.) to determine the effect of rhizobium and Phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) on growth and yield attributes of “PDU-139” variety of green gram (Vigna radiata). The experiment was conducted during Kharif season of session 2021-22. There were thirteen treatments including inorganic fertilizers solely and inorganic fertilizers along with bio-fertilizers and farmyard manure. There was a total of three replications laid out in randomized block design (RBD) and the data was analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The data indicated that the best treatment was found to be the treatment with 50% of recommended dose of fertilizers along with rhizobium. This treatment recorded the highest plant growth which is 44.27 cm and highest number of plant branches which is 15.00. Although the result for nodulation was different from the above-mentioned results, treatment with 100% RDF along with rhizobium and PSB showed the maximum number of nodules which is 29.70. The result for yield parameters is similar to the treatment of growth parameter, highest grain yield was present in treatment with 50% RDF long with rhizobium and which is 2019.33 kg per hectare. The results indicated that treatment along with bio-fertilizer showed better results in both yield and growth parameters.
