λ-method of C-rating models for combat readiness assessment

Abstract

This paper reports on a new development of great importance to readiness managers and decision-makers. As the issues concerning the status of a Combat Unit via sub resources, considerations the λ-method is a multi-dimensional approach to readiness problems and it represents an extension of the C-rating technique as developed by (Frank et al., 1968). We present a conceptual framework for this new direction and provide a mathematical justification for the concept. We establish a non-commitment relationship between the Φ-state and the λ-factor of sub resources which are the cardinal concepts of this new approach.
