Abstract

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects motor function with the main features being bradykinesia, tremor, rigidity, and instability. Aim: The aim of our review is to study the recent literature on the effect of Nordic walking (NW) in older adults with PD. Method: The Google Scholar, PubMed, and Semantic Scholar databases were searched in English with the following keywords: “Parkinson’s disease and Nordic Walking, and Older adults”. The search was filtered for clinical studies published in 2015 - 2022. Results: The review included 10 clinical studies with a total sample of 236 PD patients. All studies found an improvement in their evaluated patient parameters. Discussion and Conclusions: The NW method is an important tool for PD patients and its use has positive results.
