Abstract

Transgender people are the marginal group in the society. They suffer from the lack of continuity in their identity, lack of self-esteems, unwanted disturbance and struggles for basic human rights. This article focuses on relationships of Maslow's hierarchy of needs with the review of literature and empowerment of transgender community through different govt. welfare schemes for their upliftment. This article uses the secondary data, different social welfare scheme for transgender to explore the sociological perspective after the landmark judgment of Supreme Court of India in 2014.
