Abstract

Competition theory recommended that big organizations (World Bank, International Monetary Found and World trade organization) lead the process of development in developing countries. In this framework, these last imposed some conditions connected to their programs. Among these terms, trade openness exists to put the countries in trade competition in free functioning of market. Moreover, it should lead to development. The aim of this study is to examine if conflicting purposes of trade partners, West and DRC, led to contradictory strategies. Using structuralist approach led to findings following that, DRC adopted in full trade competition, palliative strategies to the ones of West, which lock up it in an impoverishing cooperation with West. However, the aims of these two trade partners remain contradictory. This is why this paper suggesting that trade policymakers must develop opposing strategies to the ones its trade partners in view to get involved in the way of development.
