A study on correlation of Spirometry with obstructive sleep apnea
Abstract
Relative proportions of sleep stages within a sleep cycle changes as the sleep period progresses. First cycle contains the greatest amount of stage 3 sleep. Episodes of slow wave sleep tend to be shorter in later sleep cycles. Also proportion of stage 3 sleep within slow wave sleep episodes diminishes as sleep period advances. The study was a prospective study conducted in the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, at a tertiary care hospital. Before proceeding for the study, the proforma and plan of the study were submitted to the Institutional Ethics committee for Research on Human Subjects and approval was obtained.
