Abstract

The present investigation entitled “Studies on seedling parameters at different locations and elevations of Quercus leucotrichophora forests under natural conditions” was carried out during the year 2018-19 to know the status of growth of ban oak seedlings from natural regeneration in Chail forests of district Solan, Kufri forests of district Shimla, Sarahan and Churdhar forests in Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh with three elevations i.e., E1 ( 1800 m) in each. Under this study, quadrats (with replications) of size 2m × 2 m were laid out and seedlings from the quadrats were collected for evaluating the seedling parameters. The results showed that there was no significant effect of elevation on the seedling parameters (current year seedlings) of ban oak. Among locations, seedlings collected from Churdhar forests showed best results for seedling parameters.
