Effect of various sources of zinc nutrition on zinc status in soil at different growth stages in rice (Oryza sativa. L)

Abstract

Zinc (Zn) is essential micronutrient for plants, animals and humans. Zn deficiency is widely spread in paddy soils of India, and has negative impact on national rice production, so to evaluate the efficiency of different sources of zinc a field experiment was conducted during kharif, 2015 at college farm, college of agriculture, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad to study the effect of various sources of zinc nutrition ie., Zinc sulfate, biozinc and nano zinc as Zn sources which were either incorporated into the soil or applied as foliar spray after rice transplantation. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with 12 treatments and 3 replications. The results of the experiment revealed there was a gradual decrease seen in the available zinc content in soil from 30DAT onwards till harvest. The treatment receiving RDF+soil application of Bio zinc @30kgha-1recorded significantly the highest available zinc content at 30DAT, 60DAT, 90 DAT and at harvest.
