Effect of Integrated nitrogen management through organic resources on yield nutrient content and uptake of summer sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)

Abstract

This study looks at the influence of organic sources of nitrogen on yield, quality, nutrient content and uptake in summer sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)” was conducted during summer 2010 at Instructional Farm, Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh. The objectives were to study the effect of different treatments on yield, quality and nutrient concentrations and their uptakes of sesame. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with three replications. The results of the experiment revealed that application of FYM @ 5 t/ha + castor cake @ 250 kg/ha + vermicompost @ 750 kg/ha (T11) remarkably produced highest seed yield (824 kg/ha), stalk yield (1604 kg/ha) and oil content (51.54%). Among the different integrated nitrogen management practices, application of FYM @ 5 t/ha + castor cake @ 250 kg/ha + vermicompost @ 750 kg/ha (T11) recorded maximum nitrogen, phosphorus, potash content (%) and uptake (kg/ha) by seed and stalk of sesame over remaining treatments.
