Influence of crop geometry and pruning levels on yield attributes of guava cv. Lucknow- 49
Abstract
An experiment was conducted to study the effect of spacing and pruning levels on yield attributes of guava cv. Lucknow - 49. The study consisted of four spacing (2 × 1 m, 3 × 1 m, 3 × 1.5 m and 5 × 5 m) and four pruning levels (one leaf pair, two leaf pair, three leaf pair pruning from the tip of current year shoot and un-pruned trees). The results revealed that highest fruit weight (210.17g) was recorded in treatment combination of 5 × 5 m spacing with one leaf pair pruning. Number of fruits and yield per plant increased with spacing levels but higher estimated yield per hectare could be observed in closer spacing only. Irrespective of spacing, among the pruning levels one leaf pair pruning recorded more number of fruits and yield per plant when compared with un-pruned trees.
