Evaluation of Crossandra (Crossandra infundibuliformis (L.) (Nees.) genotypes for morphological and yield traits

Abstract

The study was conducted at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during the year of 2018-2019. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with four replications of six different genotypes namely viz., Arka Shravya, Arka Kanaka, Arka Shreeya, Arka Ambara, Nilakottai Local and Dharmapuri Local. The observations were recorded on morphological, physiological, flowering and yield parameters. The significant results were registered for all parameters of evaluated genotypes. Among the genotypes, Arka Shravya recorded the maximum plant height (49.66 cm), plant spread East-West (39.00 cm) and North-South (27.33 cm), corolla tube length (2.90cm), rachis length (13.25 cm) and number of flowers per spike (53.33). Genotype Arka Kanaka had the maximum stem girth (8.79 mm) and Arka Shreeya recorded the maximum flower diameter (3.46 cm) and 100 flower weight (8.99 g). Genotype Dharmapuri Local recorded the maximum chlorophyll content (1.60 mg/g) among the evaluated genotypes under Coimbatore conditions.
