Effect of sunlight and temperature on overall migration in PET bottles
International Journal of Chemical Studies · 2019 · Vol. 7(3) · pp. 5016–5020
Abstract
The primary packaging material used for packaging water in Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET). In order to sell water packed in PET bottle, it is necessary to get Overall Migration (OM) certificate. There are lots of studies done in OM migration in PET bottles. This study focuses on effect of sunlight and temperature has on OM rate in PET bottles. For this study, 3 bottle samples have selected and named A, B and C. Each bottle has been stored in 4 conditions with one control condition. The OM values recorded in all 5 conditions in 5 days interval for a month. And none of those recorded values were crossed the OM limit of 10 mg/dm2.
