In vitro efficacy of combi product fungicides against Alternaria porri (Ellis) Cif., inciting Purple blotch disease in onion

Abstract

Purple blotch of onion caused by Alternaria porri (Ellis) Cif., is an economically important disease among all the disease that occurs in onion which is sole responsible for maximum reduction in the bulb yield. Hence bioefficacy of combi product fungicides were evaluated under in vitro employing poison food technique. The results revealed that among all the fungicides under study (Fluopyram 17.7 % + Tebuconazole 17.7 %) SC, (Carboxin 37.5 % +Thiram 37.5%) WS and (Hexaconazole 4 % + Zineb 68 %) WP at all the three concentrations viz., 0.10, 0.15 and 0.20 were found to be significantly superior (100.00 %) in inhibiting the mycelial growth of the test fungus, followed by (Captan 70 % + Hexaconazole 5%) WP with a inhibition per cent of 96.08.
