Evaluation of suitable pre emergence herbicide for Sunnhemp seed production

International Journal of Chemical Studies · 2019 · Vol. 7(1) · pp. 1303–1305

Abstract

The investigation was directed to evaluation of suitable pre emergence herbicide for sunnhemp seed production. A field experiment was conducted at Eastern block farm of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during February, 2018. The experiment consisted of six treatments viz. T1 - PE pendimethalin @ 1.0 kg a.i. /ha + HW (30 DAS), T2 - PE pendimethalin @ 0.75 kg a.i. /ha + HW (30 DAS), T3 - PE Oxyfluorfen 23.5 EC @ 0.3 kg a.i. /ha + HW (30 DAS), T4 - PE Oxyfluorfen 23.5 EC @ 0.4 kg a.i. /ha + HW (30 DAS), T5 - weed free check (20 & 40 DAS) and T6 - unweeded control with four replications and laid out in randomized block design. The results revealed that Pre emergence application of pendimethalin @ 1.0 kg a.i/ha followed by one hand weeding at 30 DAS recorded good germination, better crop growth with significantly higher DMP and higher weed control efficiency in sunnhemp. It could be concluded that Pre emergence application of pendimethalin @ 1.0 kg a.i/ha is suitable for quality seed production in sunnhemp.
