Effect of seed priming on field emergence, plant growth, seed yield and disease incidence in Kabuli chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) varieties

Abstract

Field experiment was carried out at Water and Land Use Management Institute (WALMI) Farm, National Seed Project (Crops), Seed Unit, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad during 2016-17 and 2017-18.The experiment was laid in split plot design with three replications involving two kabuli chickpea varieties and nine seed priming treatments. The results revealed that seed priming with Sprint (Mancozeb 50% + Carbendazim 25% WS) @ 2 g per kg of seed (T9) recorded significantly highest field emergence, plant growth, plant population, seed yield and lower disease incidence as compared to other treatments and control.
