Biological synthesis of copper nanoparticles using intra generic edible medicinal plants of Rosaceae family

Abstract

Chemical and biological synthesis of metallic nanoparticles viz: silver, gold, zinc, titanium, using commonly available medicinal plants. Almost all plant parts like leaf, flower, stem, and bark have already been exploited for nanoparticle synthesis. In comparison to gold and silver nanoparticle, synthesis of copper nanoparticle is advantageous being specified to possess greater surface area which in turn makes it a good catalytic material to be used in catalytic processes. The present research includes leaf extracts of edible medicinal plant of Rosa family genus Prunus in synthesis of nanoparticles and evaluates the effect on antimicrobial efficacy. The leaf extracts after nanoparticle synthesis resulted in effective zone of inhibition using agar well diffusion assay against selected pathogens which mark them to be used further in pharmaceutical industry.
