Effect of wrapping materials and storage conditions for scion storage on growth and success softwood grafts of jamun (Syzygium cuminii Skeels) cv. AJG-85

Abstract

An experiment conducted to find out the effect of wrapping materials and storage conditions for scion storage and success softwood grafts of jamun (Syzygium cuminii Skeels) cv. AJG-85 revealed that significantly minimum number of days for new sprout initiation, higher graft success, graft height and graft survival rate were recorded when the scion sticks stored in 100 gauge polythene sheet (W5). Scion sticks stored under ambient condition (S1) took minimum days for sprouting. Maximum graft success, graft height and survival rate were recorded with sticks stored under refrigerated condition (S2). Consequently, maximum growth of grafts in terms of graft success, graft height and graft survival was obtained when the sticks stored in 100 gauge polythene sheet under refrigerated condition for 2 days as compared to 0, 4 and 6 days storage.
