Efficacy of fungicides against Alternaria blight in Indian mustard

Abstract

Field experiment was conducted in two successive year 2015-16 and 2016-17during Rabi crop seasons to test the efficacy of nine old and four new fungicides along with garlic extract as seed treatment and foliar spray in controlling the Alternaria blight disease. Among the tested fungicides and garlic extract, seed treatment combination of Apron (6gm/kg seed) with Difenoconazole (Score @ 0.1%) found highly effective in controlling Alternaria blight disease (less occurrence of disease) and infection rate (5.5% and 0.002) followed by Tebuconazole 50% +Trifloxystrobin 25% WG (Nativo) (12.07% and 0.017), Mancozeb (Indofil M-45 75% WP) (14.45% and 0.016) and Metalaxyl 8% + Mancozeb 64% (Ridomil MZ @ 0.25%) 28.72% and 0.019).Among new fungicides, none of the fungicides were found effective against the disease but minimum disease severity and infection rate was found in Trifloxystrobin 50% WG (Compass) (34.51% and 0.021) followed by Kresosim methyl (Ergon 44.3% EC @ 0.1%) 36.61% and 0.013). Garlic bulb extracts (2%) was also found significantly higher than some old and new fungicides.
