Trapping efficiency of blue and yellow sticky trap on the management of sweet pepper thrips and whitefly under protected condition
Abstract
Blue and yellow sticky traps were erected in sweet pepper (Inspirion-Green type) crop fields at Nagalapuram village, Theni district, Tamil Nadu during August 2018-March 2019 to study the trapping efficiency on thrips and whitefly. The results of the study revealed that the maximum number of thrips (19.80 adults/3 traps) were attracted in blue sticky trap placed at the height of 60 cm in sweet pepper crop. While the maximum number of whiteflies (27.89 adults/3 traps) were caught in the yellow sticky trap at 60 cm height of whiteflies were caught in the yellow sticky traps placed at 60 cm height. It is helpful at the pest management, at which age of the crop has the maximum number of pests get attracted to it, from that we can forecast the flaring up of the pest population during particular crop’s age.
