Influence of organic manures on growth and yield of vegetable Clusterbean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub.)
Abstract
A field experiment was conducted at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore during Kharif season of 2018-19. The experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design with twelve treatments replicated thrice Viz., Organic farmer’s practice, FYM @ 25 t/ha + Panchagavya @ 3% as foliar spray (FS), FYM @ 12.5 t/ha + Panchagavya @ 3% as FS, FYM @ 12.5 t/ha + banana pseudostem sap @ 2% as FS, Vermicompost @ 5 t/ha + Panchagavya @ 3% as FS, Vermicompost @ 5t/ha + banana pseudostem sap @ 2% as FS, Ganajeevamruth @ 500 kg/ha + Panchagavya @ 3% as FS, Ganajeevamruth @ 500 kg/ha + banana pseudostem sap @ 2% as FS, Humic acid @ 6 l/ha + Panchagavya @ 3% as FS, Humic acid @ 6 l/ha + banana pseudostem sap @ 2% as FS, recommended dose of NPK fertilizers (RDF)(50:50:25) + TNAU pulse wonder @ 1% as FS and absolute control. The study revealed that germination and plant population were not statistically different. Significantly higher plant height (32.43 cm, 30.91 cm and 28.52 cm), more number of leaves (15.17, 18.85, 10.57, and 8.50) at 30, 45, 60 DAS and harvest stages, respectively, higher number of pods per plant (93.07) and vegetable clusterbean yield (11084 kg/ha) at harvest stage were recorded under RDF in addition to foliar spray of TNAU pulse wonder. It was statistically on par with treatments such as organic farmer’s practice and 25 t/ha of FYM along with foliar spray of 3 per cent Panchagavya.
