Monitoring and seasonal incidence of gram pod borer (Helicoverpa Armigera Hubner) in relation to abiotic factor in chick pea

Abstract

A field experiments entitled “monitoring and seasonal incidence of gram pod borer (Helicoverpa armigera Hubner) in relation to abiotic factor in chick pea” were conducted during Rabi seasons of 2016-17 at Basmati Export Development Foundation (BEDF), Meerut-250110, (U.P.), India. The results indicated that larval population peaked in all control plots at11th standard weeks (18-24th April) when the maximum and minimum temperature 25.5 °C and 10.1 °C respectively, relative humidity 70.15% and rainfall 0.00 mm was recorded. However, lowest larval population of was recorded in the 52thstandard week (31-06 January) when the maximum and minimum temperature 21.6 °C and 8.2 °C respectively, relative humidity 82.05 per cent and rainfall were recorded 0.00 mm. Adult population peaked in all control plots at 9th standard weeks (4-10th March) when the maximum and minimum temperature 27.6 °C and 11.1 °C respectively, relative humidity 70.50% and rainfall 0.40 mm was recorded. The larval population exhibited positive correlation with maximum (r=0.5133) and minimum (r=0.5946) temperature, however, negative correlation between larval population with relative humidity (r= -0.3016) and rainfall (r=-0.0041) were observed. While, adult population exhibited positive correlation with minimum temperature (r=0.0309), relative humidity (r=0.2751) and rainfall (r=0.0942), however, negative correlation with relative humidity (r= -0.0725) was observed.
