Changes in micronutrient and humic fraction of different biodegradable organic waste during vermicomposting
Abstract
This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of earthworm (Eisenia foetida) and different biodegradable organic wastes viz., agricultural waste, vegetable waste, seasonal weed and litter fall with cow dung in various ratios 8:4, 8:5 and 8:6 for micronutrient and humic fraction of vermicompost at 10, 20 and 30 days interval of vermicomposting. The total micronutrient, total humin and total fulvic acid were periodically increased from 10 to 30 days of vermicomposting but total humic acid content decrease from 10 to 30 days of vermicomposting. The highest micronutrient content and humic fraction were found in treatment vegetable waste: cow dung ratio 8:6 whereas, treatment vegetable waste: cow dung ratio 8:5 remain statically at par with treatment vegetable waste: cow dung ratio 8:6.
