GC MS analysis of the leaves of Memecylon malabaricum

Abstract

Memecylon malabaricum belongs to the family Melastomataceae. Memecylon malabaricum has considerable reputation for its traditional use in the treatment of diabetes, various bacterial infections, inflammatory and skin disorders including herpes, chickenpox. The present study was carried out to identify the phytoconstituents present in the methanolic extract of the leaves of Memecylon malabaricum by GC MS analysis. From the GC MS analysis twenty three compounds were identified.
