Prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency in Kashmiri teenagers with appendicular fractures

Abstract

Objective: This study has been done to assess the significance and prevalence of subclinical vitamin D deficiency in the development of fractures in children and adolescents of Kashmiri Origin. Materials and Methods: Three groups of children were recruited into a cross-sectional study for assessment of serum 25 hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D]. Theseincluded100 upper limb fractures (group 1), 100 lower limb fractures (group 2)] and 100 healthy controls (group 3).
