Avian fauna of Dhari tehsil, Amreli, Gujarat
Abstract
The aim of the current survey is intended to study the diversity of avifauna in the seven selected sites of the Dhari tehsil, Amreli district, Gujarat. A total of 155 species of birds distributed in 20 order, 63 families and 130 genera were recorded from the seven sites. Among all the sites, a maximum number of genera and species were recorded in the Khodiyar Dam. As per the IUCN category, a total of 141 Least Concern, 09 Nearly Threatened, 04 Vulnerable and 01 Critically Endangered species (White-rumped Vulture) was recorded from the Chanchai and Paniya village. A total of 20 species from Appendix II and one species from Appendix I and III (Dalmatian Pelican, Indian Peafowl) respectively from the CITES database. In WPA status, a total of 124 species from Schedule IV, 09 species form Schedule I and one species (House Crow) from Schedule V category. It is important for record of the database, monitoring and protecting the bird's species and conservation of the sites.
