Vasodilator effects of norwogonin in isolated rat aorta

Abstract

In the present study, we investigated the effect of flavonoid norvogonin on contractile activity of rat aorta smooth muscle. Isometric tension forces were recorded using a force transducer FT-03 (Grass Instrument Co., USA). Norvogonin posses a pronounced relaxing effect, which is mediated by complex mechanism including activation of the NO-guanylate cyclase system, inhibition of Ca2+ influx and their release from SR, which leads to a decrease in [Ca2+]I in smooth muscle cells and and their relaxation.
