A glimpse on forest flora and Indian system of medicine plants of Chitradurga district, Karnataka

Abstract

Forests are the source of livelihood to forest dwellers and people who are living in and around the foot hills of a forest. A unique climate and geographical conditions were intended to cause a rich floral diversity in the forests of Chitradurga district, Karnataka. This also has direct impact on the life style of surrounding people. During the study of flowering plant species occurrence a total of 366 plants were recorded and photographed. Listed species were also studied with reference to the medicinal role in Indian system of medicine.
