Effect of nutrient management on yield and economics of mustard [Brassica juncea (L.) Czern and Coss] in typic haplustepts

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted at the Instructional Farm (Agronomy) of Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Udaipur, Rajasthan during 2016-17 to evaluate the influence of different vermicompost, zinc and iron levels on productivity of rabi season mustard. The experiment was laid out in a randomized block design, comprising 9 treatments replicated three times. The increasing levels of vermicompost, zinc and iron increased the yield and yield attributes of mustard under Typic Haplustepts soil. The combined application of vermicompost, iron and zinc was more beneficial for increasing yield attributes, yield and net returns of mustard as compared to control. The maximum seed yield and net returns (1755.36 kg ha-1 and 37655.62 Rs ha-1) was obtained under the combined application of vermicompost 4 t ha-1 + iron 5 kg ha-1 + zinc 5 kg ha-1 (T9), respectively.
