Genetic analysis for estimates components of genetic variance in Indian mustard (Brassica juncea (L.) Czern & Coss)

Abstract

Highly significant differences were recorded among the treatments for all the characters. Analysis of variance further indicated highly significant differences among the parents, F1s and parent vs F1s for all the characters. The estimates of all genetic components were found highly significant for Days to flowering, Days to maturity, plant height, length of main raceme, number of siliquae per plant, number of secondary branches per plant, oil content, test weight and seed yield per plant. The estimates of mean degree of dominance were more than unity for length of main raceme, number of secondary branches per plant oil content, test weight and seed yield per. The proportion of genes with positive and negative effects were near or equal to theoretical value for all the nine characters.
