Decision support system for agro technology (DSSAT) modeling for estimation of rice production and validation
Abstract
A field experiment was laid out in RBD design during Kharif season 2015 to generate the ground truth data of rice crop at Agro meteorological Research Farm of SHAITS, AIIAHABAD (U.P.) as to assess the “Performance and evaluation of DSSAT model on rice under different weather conditions Allahabad. The treatment comprised of three dates of sowing viz. July 5th (D1); July 15th (D2) and July 25th (D3) three varieties viz. Sarjoo-52(V1); NDR-359 (V2) and Swarna sub-1 (V3).Validation in addition to field crop data of year 2015. DSSAT crop growth simulation model overset mated the days taken to Anthesis, days taken to physiological maturity, Leaf area index, test weight, grain yield, straw yield and harvest index of rice crop grown in region. Lower error % was recorded in LAI, days taken to Anthesis, test weight, straw yield and harvest index under timely (5 July) transplanting date and physiological maturity in D2 (15 July) and error % increased with delay in transplanting, But DSSAT model better simulate for grain yield Sarju-52 under timely transplanted i.e. 5 July. The yield attributing characters were closely simulate to observed values under timely (5 July) transplanting of rice crop, suggested that the simulated yield were well within the accepted limits, therefore the model can be used for predicting rice yield and phenological events in eastern U.P.
