Price analysis of selected agricultural commodities in Ahmednagar APMC

Abstract

Ahmednagar APMC is selected for present studies. In Ahmednagar market arrivals of different agricultural products are in good quantity as compared to other markets. This market was selected due to the availability of continuous time series data for the research period. Five agricultural commodities are selected for present study i.e. from the sorghum, Tur, Soybean, Chickpea and Bajra. It was intended to collect for 12 years data from Ahmednagar APMC for selected agricultural commodities (2005-06 to 2016-17). In Ahmednagar APMC Inter-year index number of sorghum, Tur, Soybean, Chickpea and Bajra showed that the highest arrival as well as prices variation occurred from to base year. In intra-year arrival index number of Sorghum was found highest in the month of March and February to April. As regard, the highest price index of sorghum was observed in the month of February to March. Intra-year arrival index number of soybean was found highest in the month of September to December. As regard, the highest price index of soybean was observed in the month of October to December. Intra-year arrival index number of chickpea was found highest in the month of February to March. Intra-year arrival index number of Bajra was found highest in the month of October to December.
