Screening for resistance in rose against rose aphid, Macrosiphum rosae (Linn.) and rose thrips, Scirtothrips dorsalis (Hood.)

Abstract

Relative resistance in rose 20 varieties / genotypes against rose aphid, Macrosiphum rosae (Linn.) and rose thrips, Scirtothrips dorsalis (Hood.) were evaluated under the field conditions at the University Research Farm, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology - Jammu, Main Campus, Chatha during 2013. Superstar was found to be highly resistant against aphid. Two varieties namely Rose Local and Arjun were found low resistant to aphids and thrips. Pusa Mohit, First Red, Sonika and Sughandha were the varieties which were found low susceptible to the aphids and thrips. While as Jaya and Angelica were found moderately susceptible against aphids and thrips.
