Identification of icthyofauna in River Kunhar at Naran site, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan

Abstract

The present study was conducted to evaluate Ichthyofauna of River Kunhar at Naran site from March, 2013 to February, 2017. The recorded fish fauna comprising 2 Orders, 2 Families, 3 Genera’s and 5 Species. The identified fish species were Schizothorax plagiostomus, S. esocinus, S. labiatus, Oncorhynchus mykiss and Salmo trutta fario respectively. In the current study Cyprinidae was the richest Family which comprising 3 Species followed by Salmonidae consisting 2 species. From the current study, it is accomplished that aquatic environment of River Kunhar at Naran site is much suitable for cold water fishes. Furthermore, this sit is also affected by tourism load due to its natural beauty.
