Abstract

Formulas are developed which account for the details of the high-resolution photoabsorption spectrum of ${\mathrm{H}}_{2}$ near threshold observed by Herzberg. The treatment illustrates the application of Seaton's multichannel quantum defect method under schematic conditions, and might serve as a basis for further developments.
