Nadas' Pediatric Cardiology

Abstract

The fourth edition of<i>Nadas' Pediatric Cardiology</i>, edited by Donald Fyler, is an obvious work of love. An aging pediatric cardiologist like myself remembers "Nadas and Fyler" often used almost as a single proper noun, based on these physicians' clinical experience and publications. In this text, the preface and foreword as well as Section I, "Historical Perspective," must be read carefully to savor the full flavor of the commitment of these two giants of pediatric cardiology. Dr Fyler has done a superb job defining the objective of the text and remaining faithful to that objective. The first three editions were intended as handbooks for pediatricians, general practitioners, and medical students. This book, Dr Fyler says, has a narrower focus. I am not sure what he means. He also states that it would be impossible for one author to rewrite the original text because of the magnitude of the technological advances
