Abstract
A novel method for the optical generation and distribution of millimetre waves is described. The method is demonstrated at 36 GHz and an electrical linewidth limited by the resolution bandwidth of the spectrum analyser is achieved. No broadening of the electrical linewidth could be observed after propagation through 8 km of standard fibre.
