Improving the linearity of piezoelectric ceramic actuators

Abstract
It is shown that the linearity of a piezoelectric ceramic actuator may be greatly improved if the applied electric charge, rather than the applied voltage, is varied to control the extension. Hysteresis is virtually eliminated.
